Advocacy on basics of HIV/AIDS conducted
ITANAGAR, Dec 6: More than fifty officials and staff of department of information technology benefited from a daylong advocacy and sensitization meeting on the basics of HIV/AIDS and STI/RTI, organized by the Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS), directorate of health services at the civil secretariat here.
APSACS project director, Dr R Rina highlighted about the MoU signed between NACO and Union ministry of information technology.
He also briefed the participants on the HIV/AIDS scenario of the state.
Dr Rina also informed about the facilities available for PLHAs in the state like free treatment, free laboratory investigation and guest house for PLHAs for their stay in capital complex during their treatment etc.
Information technology joint director, H Taka praised the APSACS for conducting the programme.
He assured to cooperate with the APSACS in prevention of HIV/AIDS in the state through the services available under the department of IT.
Medical officer ARTC Plus, Dr Moli Basar, as resource person, highlighted the mode of HIV/AIDS and STI/RTI transmission and the ways to prevent it.
APSACS deputy director, Tashor Pali requested the IT department to explore all possibilities for prevention of HIV/AIDS by way of bulk SMS, develop web portal etc.
He also emphasized on the importance of mainstreaming of HIV/AIDS activities with other government departments.
