ITANAGAR, Jun 27: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly speaker Tesam Pongte was accorded a warm reception on his maiden visit to Changlang on Thursday.

Pongte, who was elected from Changlang North assembly constituency for a third consecutive term, thanked the people of his constituency for electing him.

He also thanked the BJP-led government led by chief minister Pema Khandu and other MLAs for electing him unopposed to the chair of the speaker.

On the lack of opposition in the assembly, he will give equal opportunities to all to present their voices and give equal opportunity to participate in debates and deliberations, irrespective of political affiliation.

The state assembly has only one opposition member, Congress’s Kumar Waii from Bameng assembly constituency.

“I am committed to work for the common development and welfare of the people of my constituency,” Pongte added.
