NAHARLAGUN, Jun 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by state Kisan Morcha president Gumsen Lollen conducted a tree plantation programme here on Friday.

More than 200 plants, including edible fruit saplings, were planted at the Catholic Church in Pappu Nallah on the occasion.

The event saw participation from state BJP general secretary Tadar Niglar, former state president Tai Tagak, morcha heads, office bearers and senior party karyakartas.

Addressing the gathering, Tagak stressed the importance of environmental conservation in combating global warming and called for global awareness and concerted efforts for a sustainable future.

Niglar praised the state Kisan Morcha team for organising the event, highlighting that the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" is part of a 14-day initiative running from June 23 to July 6 statewide. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign launched on World Environment Day, urging active participation in tree planting and environmental preservation efforts, he said.
