LIKABALI, July 1: The Likabali Forest Division commenced the 75th Vanamahotsava Week 2024 here today with a mass tree plantation drive themed “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.”

The event, held in collaboration with ITBP SHQ Likabali, took place at the ITBP SHQ campus in Likabali and was attended by all district heads of offices from Lower Siang district, along with officers and jawans of the ITBP, led by Lower Siang deputy commissioner Rujjum Rakshap and ITBP commandant Inaobi Singh.

During the event, Likabali DFO Bajum Taba emphasized the importance of Vanamahotsava, enlightening attendees on its origins and urging everyone, regardless of occupation or status, to participate in the weeklong celebration by planting trees. He stated, “We need to compensate for the deforestation we have undertaken so far while accommodating the growing population and industrialization only by planting more trees. The growing global warming threat can be extensively checked by expanding the greenery on earth.”

He further added, “We are targeting to plant 1,000 trees in this weeklong program, but as virtuous citizens of India, everyone should come forward and mandatorily plant trees on their own.” As part of the celebration, more extensive plantation schedules have been outlined by the Likabali Forest Division.
