ITANAGAR, July 5: Incessant rains for the last two weeks have resulted in severe flooding and landslides across the state.

Rain-induced floods have wreaked havoc in Changlang district, affecting ITI, Balinong, situated on the bank of Burhi Dehing river, an official said on Friday.

He said continuous downpour and the resulting rise in water levels has exacerbated soil erosion in the banks of the river.

A type 3 quarter has been washed away by the flood waters and two type 2 quarters are on the brink of collapse, he said, adding that the boys’ hostel and three bachelor’s barracks are also under threat of the flood.

The situation is becoming increasingly dire, with the entire ITI compound at risk of submersion and erosion if preventive measures are not urgently taken by the authorities, the official added.
