NAHARLAGUN, Jul 11: The Kongkra Cohorts, an alumni association of Naharlagun government higher secondary school, organized a felicitation programme for the CBSE Class X and Class XII toppers of 2024 here.
The event was held in the school’s assembly hall during the morning assembly and attended by alumni members, faculty, parents, guardians and students.
Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) joint registrar and member of the Kongkra Cohorts Alumni Association (KCAA) Dr David Pertin led the maiden felicitation programme.
He shared that the association decided to institute annual academic excellence awards with financial support for the top four students of Class X and Class XII in humanities, science, and commerce streams to instil healthy competition among students.
The toppers, Pragya Bhardwaj of Class X, Sartam Yanu of Class XII Humanities, Satyajit Roy Dakua of Class XII Commerce, and Biki Tutu of Class XII Science were felicitated with citations, mementos, and a cash award of Rs. 5000 each for their outstanding performance in the CBSE AISSE and AISSCE examinations for the 2023-24academic session.
Dr Pertin emphasized the importance of discipline, holistic education, and the development of physical and basic skills.
He encouraged students to benefit from the comprehensive education provided by the school, fostering the right values, attitudes, and self-beliefs, and preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of adulthood.
He further highlighted the significance of staying motivated while pursuing personal interests and passions, engaging in essential learning, and building dream careers.
School vice-principal Phassang Sama appreciated the noble gesture and encouragement from the KCAA, urging the group to maintain the spirit of support and encouragement, marking the beginning of a new tradition in the school.
Several prominent alumni of the school attended the programme.
It is worth mentioning that last September, during an interaction and career counselling session with Class XII students, the KCAA donated twenty-five ceiling fans for classrooms and five CCTV cameras to the school authority.
