BOLENG, July 13: PR & RD Minister Ojing Tasing on Friday inspected various ongoing projects in Siang district.
Accompanied by Siang deputy commissioner in-charge Tajing Jonnom, the minister inspected the construction of 70 metres Bailey bridge over Subbung river.
The bridge serves as a vital alternative route following damage to the log bridge.
Tasing urged the officials to prioritize excellence and proactively address any shortcomings that could compromise the durability of the bridge.
This crucial infrastructure project has been instrumental in providing connectivity for the local community, particularly for light vehicle traffic.
The minister also inspected the construction of protection work of the Subbung bridge on both banks- upstream and downstream.
Tasing reiterated the “state government's commitment to ensuring the safety and functionality of key infrastructure during challenging times”.
The timely completion of the protection work has mitigated the impact of current floods and protected the bridge.
The minister also inspected the PMGSY road to Sine village along the right bank of the Subbung river.
The road, which is in pathetic condition, is at risk of being eroded by the raging river with certain portions of the road being almost washed away, posing a grave threat to the connectivity and the safety of the people of the area.
Siang zilla parishad chairperson Osi Pabin, Public Works Department executive engineer Onyok Siram, circle officers Niyang Pertin and Mihin Sonia and Industries assistant director Jimmy Mize accompanied the minister.
