PASIGHAT, Aug 8: Retired additional deputy commissioner Rajesh Panyang passed away on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. He was 68 years old.

Born to late Talut Panyang (father) and late Yame Panyang (mother) on June 28, 1956, at Lai-Mekuri (at present in Assam), Rajesh did his schooling from Ledum primary school, graduated from JN College, Pasighat.

He started his career as junior teacher in 1976 and was posted at Mane village under Kora circle and later was inducted as circle officer in 1981 and was promoted to extra assistant commissioner in 1996 and superannuated from government service in 2014 as additional deputy commissioner.

MLAs Tapi Darang, Ninong Ering and Oken Tayeng have expressed grief and shock over Panyang’s demise.

Offering condolences to the bereaved family members, they prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

East Siang deputy commissioner Tayi Taggu also offered condolences and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

The mortal remains of late Panyang was laid to rest in his Ruksin residence on Thursday.

Late Panyang is survived by his wife Yamang Panyang, two sons and three daughters.
