Itanagar, Aug 13: The Arunachal Youth Organization (AYO) has expressed strong concern over the dilapidated condition of the National Highway-415 from Chimpu to Banderdewa.

In a letter to Highways Capital Division chief engineer, AYO president Biki Mangmi claimed that due to numerous potholes along the stretch, it hinders daily commuters and most accidents occur due to the dilapidated conditions of the road.

“Many times, we have tried to bring the problem to light of the concerned department but department officials never paid heed to our plea,” he said.

Mangmi accused the department of being deaf and dumb to the problems faced by the people.

Besides the potholes, he said that mudslides along with boulders and stones need immediate clearance, and maintenance of the road for smooth flow of traffic and to avoid fatal accidents.

In recent times, many lives have been lost due to negligence of the Highways department, he said.

Mangmi said drains along the road side have also been blocked thereby resulting in water logging on the road.

The AYO has urged the department to initiate maintenance and early completion of the road within 10 to 15 days.
