Pasighat, Jan 20: In a significant development for the people of Bosing Banggo, Legong Banggo, and Ramle Banggo areas in East Siang district, the long-awaited RCC Bridge over Poglek Korong near Yagrung was inaugurated on Monday by Arunachal East Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao.
The bridge was dedicated to the public in the presence of several dignitaries, including Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering, Pasighat East MLA Tapi Darang, East Siang zilla parishad chairperson Olen Rome, DC Tayi Taggu, SP Pankaj Lamba, and senior officials from the public works department (PWD).
Addressing the gathering, Gao highlighted the bridge's importance in alleviating communication challenges, especially during the monsoon season. He emphasized that the new infrastructure would not only ease travel but also spur socio-economic growth in the region by enhancing connectivity along the Pasighat-Ledum-Tene-Koyu (PLTK) Road.
Gao also noted its potential to boost tourism and agricultural activities in the area.
The bridge, located at Ch 13.64 KM on the PLTK Road in the district, was constructed with funding under the Central Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR). Executed by the PWD Pasighat division, the project establishes seamless connectivity between Bosing Banggo, Legong Banggo, and other neighbouring areas with Pasighat, the district headquarters.
At a public meeting in Yagrung village, Gao urged community members, PRI representatives, and GBs to prioritize afforestation and plantation activities. He emphasized that these efforts are essential to address the annual flooding and erosion caused by the Poglek Korong, which locals refer to as the "sorrow of Bosing Banggo" due to its monsoon havoc.
Pasighat East MLA Tapi Darang lauded the bridge as a "lifeline" for the region, accelerating development in Bosing-1, Bosing-2, and surrounding areas. Darang also called for coordinated efforts to implement flood protection measures and combat deforestation, stressing that such infrastructure should be regarded as a vital community asset.
During the event, senior citizen Tachong Boko submitted a memorandum to the MP, requesting the construction of a community hall (Dere) for Tekang village, highlighting the ongoing needs of the local populace.
