Itanagar, Jan 20: Police in Pakke Kessang district have arrested the main accused in a hit-and-run case on Monday.
Pakke Kessang Superintendent of Police Tasi Darang said on Monday said that an FIR was received at Pakke Kessang police station on Sunday claiming that one Peyi Tayem, his wife and another woman were travelling on car when they were hit by a Fortuner in between Pakro and Seva village, seriously injuring them.
The injured were rushed to Seppa district hospital where Peyi Tayem was declared brought dead by the doctors, he said.
He said the two injured were admitted at the hospital.
The deceased was brought back to community health centre, Pakke Kessang and post-mortem was conducted. The body was handed over to the deceased relatives for last rites, the official said.
A police team led by Pakke Kessang police station officer in-charge T Tayeng under Darang’s supervision conducted technical surveillance and initiated investigation.
Within 13 hours of the incident, police arrested Rashok Sonam, 47, the SP said, adding that investigation is ongoing.
The vehicles involved in the incident were seized and towed and brought back to Pakke Kessang police station by a police team.
Meanwhile, Darang advised road users to be vigilant and follow traffic rules and regulations.
