ITANAGAR, Jan 21: The Directorate of Elementary Education has suspended two Block Education Officers (BEOs) from West Siang district to ensure fair and impartial inquiry in ongoing disciplinary proceedings.

According to official orders issued on January 21, Posi Gamlin and Iken Bagra have been suspended following investigations related to alleged involvement in the APPSC paper leakage case under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Both officers were reinstated in October last year, in compliance with a directive from the Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench. However, citing the need to prevent interference in disciplinary inquiries, the directorate has reimposed suspension orders under Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1965.

During the suspension period, the officers will remain at their respective headquarters in Aalo and will not leave without prior approval. The order includes provisions for the payment of subsistence allowance, as mandated under the applicable rules.

The suspension orders have been communicated to various government departments, including the chief secretary, education commissioner, and director of elementary education, for implementation and compliance.

Further investigations are underway, and the Directorate has emphasized its commitment to ensuring transparency and adherence to legal protocols during the proceedings.
