Aalo, Jan 28: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein highlighted the crucial role of the state's youth as future leaders, innovators, artists, and entrepreneurs during the inauguration of the fourth edition of Arunachal Yuva Samanay.
The event, held at Kombo Jirdin Village, near here, celebrates the cultural diversity and immense potential of the state's youth.
Speaking at the event, Mein emphasized the need for nurturing the youth to shape a progressive and developed Arunachal Pradesh.
“Our youth are the future leaders, innovators, artists, and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. It is our collective responsibility to nurture their potential and empower them to take our state to new heights,” the deputy chief minister said.
The theme of the event, ‘Youth for Satat Vikas,’ encouraged the youth to come together, engage, and empower themselves. This vibrant celebration showcased all 26 major tribes of the state, blending traditional heritage with modern aspirations while promoting national integrity, Mein remarked.
“This is a celebration of Arunachal’s rich cultural heritage, designed to empower youth and showcase their talent,” he added.
The event, featuring 750 participants, served as a platform for youth to engage in cultural performances, exhibitions, and intellectual discussions, focusing on unity and diversity.
Mein also reiterated that 2024-25 has been declared as the ‘Year of Youth,’ with a strong focus on channeling the enthusiasm of young people toward the state’s growth.
Highlighting government initiatives, the deputy chief minister spoke of various platforms launched for youth development, including the Arunachal Pradesh scholarship for academic excellence, youth desks, and youth parliaments.
A special emphasis on sports was also mentioned, with the establishment of the Arunachal Olympic Mission, renovation of sports facilities, and the creation of a FIFA-standard football stadium in Itanagar.
The deputy chief minister praised the efforts of the Sports & Youth Affairs department in successfully organizing the event over the years, with improvements each year.
Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Kento Jini, in his address, explained the choice of Kombo Jirdin Village as the venue to expose youth to village life and the culture of the Galo community.
The event also saw the inauguration of a double court Badminton Hall at Hisam Colony, with Mein promising ?2 crore in funding for further development at the Taken Riba DBA Indoor Badminton Stadium.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including MLAs, community leaders, and government officials.
