Yupia, Jan 31: The first-ever trekking expedition to Budum Lagney in Arunachal Pradesh’s Papum Pare district was flagged off on Thursday, marking a significant step in promoting the region’s tourism potential.
Organized by the district tourism office in collaboration with the district administration under the Arunachal Tourism Society, the guide training-cum-trekking expedition is part of the National Tourism Day celebrations.
The initiative aims to highlight the Budum Lagney heritage trekking trail, putting it on the tourism map of Papum Pare while providing hands-on training to unemployed youths, tourist guides, and tour operators.
The expedition was flagged off by Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek and is being led by Tadar Robin, proprietor of Mercy Tours and Travel, according to a statement.
The trekking started from Sangrik Hapa and would cover Sunri Gika, Herr Baddar, Horo Yarne, Horo Lith, and finally Budum Lagney Top.
Budum Lagney holds great mythological significance, deeply linked to the legend of Geykar Senyi and Tei Bida. The site features giant rocks with footprints of Tei Bida, surrounded by a dense yet tranquil forest, an ideal destination for hikers, adventure seekers, and nature lovers.
Previously, the site lacked proper management, but with the formation of the Budum Lagney Management Committee, it will now be maintained and developed as a trekking destination.
The committee will also offer porter services, food, and accommodation to trekkers exploring the scenic trail.
