Tezu, Jan 31: A mega health camp was organised at Medo under Wakro sub-division by the Lohit district health society under the supervision of district medical officer (DMO) Dr C L Manchay.
The initiative, undertaken by the Lohit district administration, was in line with the directives of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who had emphasised the need for such camps in all districts during the Deputy Commissioners’ Annual Conference in Itanagar, officials said.
Lohit zilla parishad chairperson (ZPC) Dasula Krishikro, who attended as the chief guest, appreciated the efforts of the district health society in reaching interior locations.
She urged authorities to expedite the posting of an agriculture development officer, horticulture development officer and a veterinary officer in the area, stating that agriculture remains the primary livelihood of the local population and requires institutional support.
Lohit deputy commissioner K N Damo said the health camp was aimed at providing comprehensive health check-ups and diagnostic services to residents.
Medical tests conducted at the camp included Complete Blood Count (CBC), Kidney Function Test (KFT), Liver Function Test (LFT), Thyroid tests, Hepatitis B & C screening, HIV testing, blood pressure monitoring, and sugar level checks, he said.
Specialist doctors from Zonal District Hospital, Tezu, were deployed for the camp as part of the state government’s Sewa Aapke Dwar initiative to ensure doorstep healthcare delivery, he added.
Despite adverse weather conditions, the camp witnessed a large turnout, highlighting the need for better healthcare accessibility in remote areas, officials added.
