Pasighat, Feb 12: Panchayati Raj and Rural Development minister, Ojing Tasing, on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the implementation of community assets at Niglok Gram Panchayat under Ruksin sub-division.
The initiative, part of the 3% LSDG component of the State Own Resource (SOR) Grant for FY 2024-25, aims to transform Niglok into a "Green & Clean Village" through community-driven efforts.
Speaking at the event, Tasing emphasized the importance of community participation in achieving sustainable cleanliness, hygiene, and eco-friendly practices. He highlighted that the successful implementation of the project would not only improve village sanitation but also create livelihood opportunities and boost rural tourism.
"The key to transforming Niglok into a model clean and green village lies in the proactive efforts of every community member. Village cleanliness should become a way of life," he said.
He also urged the community to adopt innovative local projects and best practices in alignment with localized Sustainable Development Goals (LSDG) on a clean and green theme.
Local MLA Ninong Ering stressed the role of the community in achieving the mission of a "Clean and Green Niglok" while noting that the government would act as a facilitator in this process.
MLA Tapi Darang, deputy commissioner Tayi Taggu, zilla parishad chairperson Olen Rome and ZPM Aruni Jamoh also addressed the gathering.
Earlier, Panchayat director Tajing Jonnom who has adopted LSDG Village Niglok, outlined the objectives of the Clean and Green Panchayat Initiative.
It was informed that seven villages have been adopted under the LSDG Village program in the state, with more to be included in a phased manner each year to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
