Itanagar, Mar 10: The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a significant hike in wages for 35,674 contingent employees, auxiliary labor corps (ALCs) and casual workers, with effect from April 1, 2025, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein said while presenting the state budget on Monday.
As per the revised wage structure, unskilled workers will now earn between Rs 18,000 and Rs 30,000 per month, depending on their years of service, while skilled workers will receive Rs 19,000 to Rs 31,000.
The new pay brackets are categorized into six slabs based on tenure, with employees serving for over 25 years witnessing the highest jump.
The wage revision is expected to have an annual financial implication of Rs 268 crore on the state exchequer, Mein said.
In addition, the government has introduced the 'Arunachal Karmayogi Samman Nidhi', under which contingent employees, ALCs, and casual laborers retiring at the age of 60 after completing 20 years of continuous service will receive a one-time retirement benefit of Rs 3 lakh.
“The initiative underscores our commitment to improving the socio-economic well-being of our workforce and fostering a dignified and motivated ecosystem,” Mein said.
The finance, planning and investment department will soon issue detailed guidelines for the scheme, he added.
