Itanagar, Mar 15: A three-day ‘Culture Guide & Tour Leader’ training course, organised by the state tourism department, concluded successfully at SFCI.
The program, inaugurated by tourism director Manjunath R, saw the participation of 54 individuals from various districts, including students, professionals, unemployed youth, and business owners from the state capital.
The initiative, led by tourism deputy director Bengia Manna Sonam, is the third such training session, following similar programs held in Miao and Ziro last year.
The training featured expert sessions by renowned resource persons, including Dr Marami Talukdar (Anthropologist), Dr Manoj K Singh (Co-founder of ICRT India Foundation), Raj Basu (Advisor, Rural Tourism & Homestays), and other national and regional awardees in responsible tourism.
Participants received in-depth insights into cultural tourism, its local relevance, and its impact on the tourism sector.
On the second day, discussions focused on various cultural tourism models. The final day involved practical training, where participants conducted guided tours at the State Museum and Ita Fort.
The closing ceremony took place at Waii International, with Tsering Wange, chief advisor of Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association (APTOA and Padma Shri Anshu Jamsenpa attending as guests.
During the event SFCI principal S Kar, introduced eight employees of Waii International Hotel who had completed their training under the CMPSY scheme at IHM Guwahati and FCI Nagaon, along with on-the-job training.
These individuals are now employed in key positions at Waii International Hotel.
