Likabali, Mar 17: The Lower Siang district planning committee on Monday convened a crucial meeting to finalise the zilla parishad development plan (ZPDP) and gram panchayat development plan (GPDP) for the financial year 2025-26.

The meeting, chaired by deputy commissioner Rujjum Rakshap, saw detailed PowerPoint presentations by all concerned member secretaries on proposed projects under state-tied, untied, and SOR basic grants.

After thorough deliberation and scrutiny, the committee approved genuine proposals for the upcoming fiscal year.

Addressing the occasion, the DC stressed the importance of first-hand verification of gram sabha proposals to prevent fictitious and overlapping projects. He directed officers to collaborate with line departments during both the planning and execution phases to ensure maximum efficiency and impact.

Zilla parishad chairperson Marpe Nguba also emphasised the need for practical, need-based schemes under the panchayat system. She called for a robust monitoring mechanism to eliminate unproductive ventures and ensure development initiatives serve their intended purpose.

Earlier, DPDO-cum-member secretary of zilla parishad, Tajum Ronya, initiated the meeting by outlining its objectives.

He encouraged value-driven discussions from both officers and panchayat leaders, advocating for actionable solutions that bring positive change to society.

The meeting was attended by ZPMs, officers, and officials of the panchayat department, all of whom contributed to shaping a transparent and effective development roadmap for the district.
