Itanagar, Mar 19: Kibithoo and Bichom Dam Site have been selected under the Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBDD) initiative, a sub-scheme of the Swadesh Darshan scheme by the Union Ministry of Tourism, officials said on Tuesday.
The initiative aims to enhance tourism infrastructure, promote sustainability, and uplift local communities, they added.
Kibithoo, located in Anjaw district, is recognized under the Vibrant Village Programme and represents the state’s frontier beauty and rich cultural heritage. Meanwhile, Bichom Dam Site in West Kameng district, identified under Amrit Dharohar, highlights the region’s pristine natural charm while fostering ecotourism and biodiversity conservation.
Expressing gratitude on the selection, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein thanked Union Minister of Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for supporting the promotion of Arunachal Pradesh’s tourism potential.
Officials said that the Ministry of Tourism has identified 42 destinations under four categories across the country under the CBDD initiative. A template has also been shared with state governments and UT administrations for the formulation of detailed action plans to submit project proposals.
