Tawang, Apr 4: In a significant boost to the healthcare infrastructure in the Tawang region, a Designated Microscopic Centre (DMC) and a modern dental unit were formally inaugurated at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jang on Friday.

These additions are expected to enhance diagnostic capabilities and oral healthcare access, particularly benefiting residents in remote areas.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Tawang zilla parishad chairperson Leki Gombu, in the presence of additional deputy commissioner Hakraso Kri, DMO Dr Rinchin Neema, district tuberculosis officer Dr Urgen Lhamu, village heads from Yuthembu, and local community members.

The newly established DMC is designed to strengthen early detection and treatment efforts for tuberculosis, a persistent public health concern in the region.

Meanwhile, the dental unit brings essential oral healthcare services closer to the community, reducing the need for long-distance travel to access such treatments.

Addressing the gathering, the ZPC reaffirmed the government’s focus on narrowing the healthcare divide between urban centers and remote localities. He highlighted the importance of such facilities in elevating both the quality and efficiency of health services for the local population.

Community members and local leaders took the opportunity to express their appreciation to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, recognising his leadership and commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the state.

They credited his consistent support for making such initiatives possible, particularly in underserved regions like Jang.

With the launch of these two critical facilities, CHC Jang is now poised to deliver more comprehensive and accessible healthcare, marking a pivotal advancement in public health services for the area.
