Itanagar, Apr 7: The Itanagar police on Monday arrested a habitual drug peddler and seized over 10 grams of narcotic and psychotropic substances under 'Operation Dawn 2.0', officials said.

Acting on specific inputs regarding drug peddling in the F and G sectors of the city, a special police team launched an operation near the Rural Bank, adjacent to Aditya Drug House Pharmacy, they said.

The operation, led by Itanagar SDPO Kengo Dirchi and Inspector K Yangfo under the supervision of Capital SP, resulted in the detention of two suspects.

A personal search of one of them led to the recovery of four vials of suspected heroin weighing 6.48 grams, 27 Nitcor-10 tablets (Nitrazepam 10mg), 10 Nitrous-10 tablets (Nitrazepam 10mg), and four syringes, the police said.

The arrested individual was identified as 24-year-old Semo Tok, a habitual offender, and was taken into custody at the spot.

A case has been registered against him under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, including Sections 21(b), 27, 27A, and 29, the police added.
