Police intensify patrolling in vulnerable areas

Itanagar, Apr 8: As a part of the Cops and Community initiative, Itanagar Capital Region police (Naharlagun) have intensified patrolling in isolated and vulnerable pockets to curb drug trafficking, alcohol consumption, and other anti-social activities, police said.

Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo on Tuesday said that patrols are being conducted regularly in riverbanks, abandoned buildings, railway tracks and roadside areas under the jurisdiction of Papu Hills PS, Naharlagun PS, Nirjuli PS and Banderdewa PS.

During these patrols, police teams are actively engaging with the youth found in such areas, advising and sensitising them against indulging in drinking and other unlawful activities, especially during late hours in secluded spots, the SP said.

He said the youths were counselled to refrain from such behaviour and were encouraged to become responsible and law-abiding citizens.

The initiative aims to build stronger community ties while ensuring safety and security across the region, Gambo added.
