Tezu, Apr 16: A district-level training programme on the Summary Revision of Panchayati Raj Electoral Rolls (PR-E Rolls) for 2025 was held at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat in Tezu on Wednesday, bringing together officials from Tezu, Sunpura, and Wakro administrative circles.
Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), designated officers, and supervisors participated in the one-day training, which aimed to ensure consistency, transparency, and procedural integrity in the electoral roll revision process.
Deputy commissioner of Lohit KN Damo emphasised the importance of adhering to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India. He called upon officials to perform their roles with diligence and discipline, likening their responsibilities to those of the armed forces in terms of precision and dedication. Damo also urged department heads to ensure the availability of staff for electoral duties and assured direct intervention in case of issues related to the revision process.
Earlier, the project director & district panchayati development officer, Nabam Tajik, welcomed the participants and stressed the significance of the revision exercise in upholding democratic practices. An introductory session was conducted to promote coordination among officials before the technical sessions began.
Chairing the technical session, Wakro ADC AJ Lungphi drew attention to the pending digitisation of PR rolls in the state and highlighted the importance of proper implementation of corrections, additions, and deletions. He instructed officials to supervise the process strictly and ensure that all claims and objections were addressed at designated polling stations through scheduled hearings.
The technical training was led by a master trainer, who explained the use of forms 4, 5, and 6, among others, providing practical illustrations and responding to queries raised during the interactive session.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by HQ circle officer Nekong Perme, who appreciated the active participation of officials and the support of trainers in facilitating the revision exercise.
The training is part of preparations for the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections and is expected to strengthen electoral processes in Lohit district.
