Itanagar, Apr 16: Police in Naharlagun under its Operation Dawn 2.0 initiative have arrested two drug peddlers from Borum and Doimukh and seized 55.05 grams of heroin from their possession.
Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo on Tuesday said that an operation was launched following credible intelligence inputs regarding drug peddling activities in Borum near Naharlagun.
A police team led by Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo along with inspector Torum Mai under the supervision of the SP launched the operation and intercepted drug peddler 41-year-old Soriful Islam.
During interrogation, Islam gave vital information to the police which led the team to the residence of the main supplier at Doimukh in Papum Pare district.
Acting on the information, a follow-up raid was conducted at the identified location, resulting in the arrest of 26-year-old Techi Bharat.
During personal and house search, police recovered and seized 39 vials of heroin weighing approximately 55.05 grams, the SP said.
He said a case has been registered at the Papu Hills police station under Section 21(b)/27 of the NDPS Act, and both accused have been arrested.
