Itanagar, Apr 17: Four interstate drug peddlers were arrested by police in Banderdewa and seized 113.22 grams of heroin in two separate operations on Wednesday, police said.
In the first operation, police set up a naka at the Banderdewa check gate based on specific information, said Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo on Thursday.
He said the team intercepted one Dongja Kabak (39), who was riding a gearless scooter.
Police conducted a search in presence of executive magistrate and independent witnesses which led to the recovery of 30 vials (39.69 grams of heroin from his possession.
In the second operation, the SP said a hotel near the Police Training Centre, Banderdewa was raided following reliable inputs regarding ongoing drug activities.
Three individuals, identified as Vikash Doley (26), Biswa Morang (28), and the hotel owner Makan Doley (50), were arrested.
A concealed stash of 55 vials (73.55 grams) of heroin along with Rs 14,060, suspected to be the proceeds of drug sales, was recovered from the premises, the SP added.
The operations were conducted by a team led by Banderdewa PS officer-in-charge by inspector Kipa Hamak, sub-inspectors SK Singh, Koj Tada, N Bagang, and LP Mema, assistant sub-inspectors A Rajbhar, T Kipa, SK Jha, and others along with personnel from 138th Battalion of the CRPF.
Gambo said that in the last two weeks, the Itanagar Capital Region Naharlagun police under the Operation Dawn 2.0 initiative have registered nine NDPS cases across various police stations and arrested 19 drug peddlers.
