Pasighat, Apr 19: Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta on Saturday chaired a review meeting on National Highway development projects in Arunachal Pradesh at the Siang Guest House here.

The review meeting focused on assessing the status of completed and ongoing road infrastructure projects, those proposed for awarding, and the progress of detailed project report (DPR) preparation for new roads across the state. The minister took a detailed briefing from officials and stakeholders on various aspects of implementation, including bottlenecks and challenges faced at the ground level.

Speaking at the meeting, Tamta reiterated the critical role of timely and accurate data submission in assessing district-level performance and ensuring smooth execution of centrally sponsored projects. “Providing correct data is vital for gauging the performance of the district. To push the national economy to a higher level, good road connectivity plays a vital role,” he emphasized.

Tamta also directed departments concerned and agencies to ensure close coordination and proactive monitoring to speed up the pace of highway construction in the strategically located border state. He said the Centre is committed to improving surface connectivity in the Northeast, especially in Arunachal, to facilitate both economic development and national security.

The meeting was attended by MP Tapir Gao, MLA Tapi Darang, East Siang deputy commissioner Tayi Taggu, heads of departments and other dignitaries.
