Bomdila, Apr 22: More than ten days after he was reported missing, Koorumba Moirangthem, an engineering assistant with All India Radio (AIR) in Bomdila, West Kameng, remains untraced despite extensive search operations in and around the district headquarters.
Moirangthem, a native of Manipur, had been residing in Bomdila with his wife since 2024. According to family members, he had been undergoing treatment for depression and anxiety over the past few years.
On April 13, in what family members believe was an attempt to alleviate mental stress, Moirangthem took his wife to Buddha Guest House located in the main market area of Bomdila. As per his wife’s account, he left the guest house around 4:40 pm to get dinner and did not return.
The last known communication from Moirangthem was a brief phone call to a brother-in-law on the morning of April 14 at around 9:06 am. His mobile phone was reportedly last active in the Hawa Golai area, also known as Bomdila Pass.
Bomdila police station officer-in-charge sub-inspector Nima Tsering, confirmed that search operations were carried out in the surrounding forested and cliff areas with assistance from Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel, family members, and volunteers. However, no concrete leads have emerged so far.
Moirangthem was last seen wearing a green T-shirt, black sweater, beige trousers, and brown shoes. He is described as being of medium height and wheatish complexion.
His family has appealed to the public for any information that could assist in locating him. Individuals with relevant information are urged to contact 8761022667 or 7044084142.
The police have not ruled out any possibilities and have assured continued efforts to trace the missing AIR staffer.
