Boleng, Apr 22: A district-level review meeting for Siang to assess the progress of major infrastructure projects and flagship schemes—including those under central and state governments—was held in Boleng on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs and Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, Abu Tayeng, who also serves as the mentor secretary for Siang district. Minister for Panchayati Raj and local MLA Ojing Tasing, deputy commissioner PN Thungon, and heads of various line departments, were also at the meeting.
The review focused on monitoring the status of implementation of projects under schemes such as the prime minister’s and chief minister’s flagship programmes. Departments were asked to present updates on ongoing works, flag existing bottlenecks, and propose corrective measures to address implementation delays.
During the meeting, Tayeng underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination, transparency in execution, and timely delivery of developmental projects. He urged officials to adopt a people-centric approach and ensure that benefits of welfare schemes reach the targeted populations.
The session concluded with a collective commitment by district officials and departmental heads to strengthen delivery mechanisms, improve monitoring systems, and ensure that developmental initiatives contribute to the holistic growth of Siang district.
