Keak, Apr 25: An environmental awareness camp themed, “Green Planet is a Clean Planet” was organised at Keak village in West Siang district on Friday. The programme was spearheaded by students of the Teacher Training College, Aalo, with support from the Marjum Welfare Society.

The event commenced with a procession through the village, during which participants raised slogans promoting environmental protection. The rally was followed by a tree plantation drive aimed at encouraging afforestation and environmental stewardship within the community.

A drama highlighting the impacts of environmental degradation and the importance of sustainable practices was performed by the students, drawing attention to the long-term consequences of ecological neglect and the need for collective action.

Agriculture development officer Minam Tayeng, students of the training college, and residents of Keak village actively participated in the programme. Organisers stated that the camp was part of a broader initiative to raise grassroots awareness on environmental issues and foster a sense of responsibility among future educators and local communities.
