Yupia, Apr 29: Papum Pare deputy commissioner, Jiken Bomjen, on Tuesday chaired a review meeting with the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) to assess preparations for the upcoming SAFF U-19 Championships, scheduled to be held at the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium here from May 9 to 18.

Describing the international tournament as a moment of pride for Arunachal Pradesh and the nation, Bomjen stressed the need for collective and coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure the event's success.

The meeting saw a detailed discussion on key arrangements, including medical services, security, traffic management, water and electricity supply, road maintenance, and waste management. Concerned Heads of Departments presented their preparedness status during the session.

Papum Pare superintendent of police, Taru Gusar, provided an overview of the security measures being put in place for the smooth conduct of the event.

The SAFF U-19 Championships 2025 will witness participation from six nations—Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives, India, and Sri Lanka.

Other critical aspects such as accommodation for players and officials, parking facilities, fire safety measures, cultural performances during ceremonies, and issuance of Protected Area Permits (PAP) and Inner Line Permits (ILP) were also reviewed.

The tournament is being organized by the APFA in collaboration with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF).

Highlighting the significance of the event, APFA secretary general Kipa Ajay announced that the tournament would be a plastic-free event. He further informed that tickets are now available for booking online at https://slotallot.in.

Sports director Tadar Apa, additional deputy commissioner Tame Yajum, administrative officers, HoDs and APFA officials were present at the meeting.
