ITANAGAR, Apr 30: The Government Assurance Committee (GAC) of the eighth Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly held its third sitting on Wednesday, focusing on the status of government assurances and the progress of hydro power projects in the state.

The meeting, chaired by GAC chairman Laisam Simai, included a detailed review of action taken reports submitted by various departments. Special attention was given to the development of completed and ongoing hydro power projects.

The Commissioner of the Hydro Power Department was called upon to provide a verbal briefing on the status and challenges of the sector. The committee deliberated on the inputs and acknowledged the strategic significance of hydro power for the state's economic growth and energy security.

Simai reiterated the committee’s objective of monitoring the timely fulfilment of assurances made in the Assembly and called for coordinated efforts from all departments for effective implementation.

Members of the committee, including legislators Rotom Tebin and Tsering Lhamu, participated in the proceedings. Secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Tadar Meena and additional secretary Agaab Mossang also attended the meeting.

The committee reaffirmed its focus on ensuring transparency, accountability and sustained developmental progress across priority sectors.
