ITANAGAR, Apr 30: In a significant step toward community engagement and public service, the Itanagar Capital Police returned 75 recovered lost mobile phones to their rightful owners during the tenth edition of SAMVAD, held on Wednesday at Chimpu, near here.
The event was organised under the Police Ajin initiative, which aims to promote stronger connections between the police and the public.
Local MLA Techi Kaso attended the event, along with Capital Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohit Rajbir Singh, SDPO Kengo Dirchi, DySP (HQ) Chamrak Arun, and other senior officers.
Commending the efforts of the police, the MLA praised the department’s dedication to public service, transparency, and teamwork. He specifically highlighted the department’s effective strategy in tracing and returning lost phones to their owners.
The recovery and return of the devices were made possible through the dedicated work of a team led by officer-in-charge of Chimpu police station Inspector N Nishant. The team included head constables Jerry Romin and Rili Tabri, constables Dejum Ete, Tai Lirak, Tasser Tasso, Rabin Singh, Jeni Wangpan and lady constable Inya Gadi.
SP Singh lauded the team for their consistent efforts in addressing public grievances and enhancing trust in the police system.
During the programme, several beneficiaries shared their stories and expressed gratitude to the police for their prompt and sincere actions. The initiative, they said, demonstrated the force’s commitment to citizen welfare.
The SAMVAD platform continues to act as an important link between the community and the police, encouraging dialogue, trust, and accountability.
In 2024, the Capital Police recovered over 300 mobile phones, and in 2025 alone, they have already recovered 150, underscoring their sustained efforts in assisting the public.
The successful return of 75 phones at the event stands as a testament to the police department’s dedication to responsive, citizen-centric policing.
