WAKRO, Apr 30: Chief Secretary Manish Gupta on Tuesday visited the pilgrimage site of Parshuram Kund in Lohit district to review ongoing infrastructure works being implemented under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme.
The visit aimed to assess developmental progress intended to enhance pilgrim amenities and promote religious tourism at the site, which sees a large influx of devotees during Makar Sankranti.
Gupta, accompanied by Lohit deputy commissioner KN Damo, superintendent of police Thutan Jamba, zilla parishad chairperson Dasula Krisikro, ADC Wakro AJ Lungphi, and officials from the PWD Namsai division, inspected various components of the scheme. He stressed the importance of maintaining construction quality and ensuring that improvements align with the spiritual and environmental significance of the site.
Parshuram Kund, situated on the banks of the Lohit river, is considered a prominent religious destination in the state. The development project under PRASAD is expected to improve accessibility and visitor experience without compromising the site’s sanctity.
In a separate initiative to promote adventure tourism, the chief secretary also participated in a rafting expedition from Parshuram Kund to Alubari.
Organised by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs in collaboration with State Lotteries and the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, the expedition aimed to highlight the region’s potential for adventure sports.
Tourism officials said the activity reflects efforts to diversify tourism offerings in Arunachal Pradesh while encouraging environmentally responsible travel.
