NAHARLAGUN, Apr 30: Food and Civil Supplies Minister Gabriel D Wangsu on Wednesday chaired a state-level review meeting of the department at its directorate headquarters here, ahead of the proposed rollout of the Smart Public Distribution System (PDS) across the state.

The meeting was attended by senior officials and District Food and Civil Supplies Officers (DFCSOs) from various districts. The day-long session included technical discussions and presentations focusing on the current status of departmental schemes, eKYC implementation, data analytics, and challenges encountered during field operations.

Consultants and DFCSOs presented detailed district-wise reports, outlining both achievements and operational bottlenecks. Officers raised concerns related to staffing, departmental promotions, vehicle procurement documentation, and field-level constraints in implementing the Smart PDS initiative.

Wangsu urged officials to explore innovative and practical solutions to improve departmental efficiency. He also called for enhanced use of social media platforms for communication and emphasised the need for adopting appropriate technical interventions to streamline service delivery.

The minister assured that more such interactive meetings would be held to address district-specific issues and facilitate a smoother transition to the Smart PDS framework. He appreciated the work being done by field officials and encouraged them to remain committed to public service.

Legislator Techi Kaso, who serves as advisor to the minister, also attended the meeting and addressed the gathering.
