Yupia, May 2: In a proud moment for the Yupia township, Papum Pare deputy commissioner Jiken Bomjen on Friday officially inaugurated the ‘I Love Yupia’ town beautification project, a flagship initiative supported under the chief minister’s award for excellence in public administration 2024.

The award was conferred in recognition of the innovation lab project, originally conceptualized under the leadership of former DC Sachin Rana, whose visionary groundwork laid the foundation for this public-space enhancement.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Bomjen expressed heartfelt appreciation for the contributions of his predecessors. He highlighted the significance of the new landmark, located near the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium, noting its potential to become a favorite selfie destination, especially with the upcoming South Asian Football tournaments drawing attention to the area.

The DC also made a clarion call for community participation in keeping Yupia clean and beautiful. He emphasised that while such projects uplift the visual appeal of public spaces, their true value is sustained through public ownership and civic responsibility.

The event was attended by heads of departments and enthusiastic members of the public, who welcomed the initiative as a step forward in urban aesthetics and shared civic identity.
