Mebo, May 2: Onam Gamno, an arm wrestler from East Siang district, has been selected to represent India at the upcoming Asian Armwrestling Championship 2025, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from May 3 to 11.
Gamno will compete in the Senior Women’s 50 kg Both Hand category. Her selection was confirmed by the People’s Armwrestling Federation India, based on her previous performances and achievements in national and international competitions.
In 2023, Gamno secured a gold medal in the left arm 52 kg category at the World Armwrestling Championship, furthering her credentials in the sport.
Her participation in the continental event is being seen as a significant development for the promotion of armwrestling in Arunachal Pradesh. Residents and sports supporters from the region have extended their best wishes ahead of the competition.
The Asian Armwrestling Championship will feature top athletes from across the continent and is being viewed as an important opportunity for Indian athletes to gain international exposure.
