Itanagar, May 2: In a proactive move to strengthen public safety and maintain law and order, the ICR Naharlagun Police has ramped up night patrolling in isolated and vulnerable areas across the Capital Region.

Police teams from Papu Hills, Naharlagun, Nirjuli, and Banderdewa police stations are conducting regular late-night patrols aimed at deterring crime and responding quickly to any incidents.

The night patrols serve as a key preventive measure against theft, burglary, snatching, and other illegal activities. These efforts also support nighttime surveillance and help police monitor suspicious movements more effectively, Naharlagun superintendent of police Mihin Gambo said in a statement, here on Friday.

The increased police presence during the night has helped build public confidence and contributed to maintaining peace in the region, he said.

The SP urged citizens to cooperate fully with patrolling officers and follow all lawful instructions during night hours. He advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel in deserted or high-risk areas at night and to report any suspicious activity or individuals to the nearest police station.

The SP also encouraged the installation of CCTV systems and proper lighting around homes and businesses. He emphasised that community cooperation plays a vital role in keeping neighborhoods safe and preventing crime throughout the Capital Region.
