Itanagar, May 3: The State Food Craft Institute (SFCI), under the state Department of Tourism, on Friday conducted the valedictory function of the "Hunar Se Rozgar Tak" (HSRT) programme, a flagship skill development initiative of the Ministry of Tourism.

The training programme, aimed at enhancing employability in the hospitality sector, included modules on front office assistance and food & beverage service. A total of 49 candidates successfully completed the course.

Principal of Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic, Taba Tath, attended the event as chief guest and encouraged the trainees to utilise their skills in building sustainable careers in the hospitality industry.

Tourism deputy director Bengia Manna Sonam highlighted the department's commitment to empowering local youth through structured skill development initiatives. She said such programmes were aligned with the state's broader tourism promotion goals.

SFCI principal SS Kar welcomed the gathering and acknowledged the efforts of the faculty and staff in delivering practical, hands-on training. He reaffirmed the institute’s objective of strengthening the state’s hospitality workforce.

Certificates were awarded to all graduating trainees, with officials confirming that eight participants had already secured employment with hotels and hospitality establishments.

Trainees expressed satisfaction with the training and thanked the institute for providing practical experience and career support.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and words of encouragement for the newly skilled individuals entering the hospitality sector.
