Basar, May 5: Lepa Rada deputy commissioner Atul Tayeng on Monday conducted a joint inspection of ongoing development projects in the district, with a focus on works implemented under the RWD Basar division.
The inspection team comprised officials from the district administration including the circle officer (HQ-Basar), executive engineer (RWD Basar division), district planning officer, Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE), and the development officer for textiles & handicrafts.
Several sites were inspected, including the upgradation of the 11.3-km MRL01-Akajan Likabali Bam Road to the Government Model Degree College, Basar, under PMGSY-III (Batch-1, 2023–24). The work was found to be lagging behind schedule due to inadequate manpower and machinery at the site. The Deputy Commissioner directed the department and contractor to ensure project completion by July 2025.
At the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya (NSCBAV), Gori, the team reviewed the construction of a 20-bedded hostel along with kitchen, dining facilities, warden accommodation, and four Type-II residential quarters. The compound was noted to be congested for a residential institution.
The DC instructed the DDSE to resolve the issue.
The inspection also covered the ongoing construction of an Emporium-cum-Craft Centre at Basar. Citing slow progress, the Deputy Commissioner asked the implementing agency to adhere strictly to the project timeline.
Tayeng emphasised the need for maintaining quality and timely execution of all works. He directed the RWD Executive Engineer to share Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and architectural drawings with user departments to incorporate their inputs and to ensure continuous monitoring.
