Itanagar, May 5: A five-day workshop on Food, Nutrition, Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (FNHW) began here on Monday under the Social Inclusion and Social Development (SISD) vertical of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).

Organised by the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), the training is being attended by officials from both the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU) and District Mission Management Units (DMMUs). The programme aims to integrate FNHW interventions into the DAY-NRLM framework to improve field-level implementation.

The workshop is structured around four core components—system strengthening, social behaviour change communication (SBCC), convergence with line departments, and food enterprise promotion. It seeks to build institutional capacity while encouraging cross-sectoral collaboration to enhance rural well-being.

Key facilitators for the workshop include national-level experts Devashish Bisawal and Shivangi Karmakar from the National Mission Management Unit, Ministry of Rural Development, and Nandini Sen, a national resource person for FNHW from the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR).

Addressing the inaugural session, ArSRLM CEO and State Mission Director Sangeeta Yirang urged participants to fully engage with the training and to disseminate the knowledge gained to self-help groups (SHGs) at the grassroots level.

Officials said the initiative is expected to support the integration of FNHW priorities into the state’s rural livelihood strategies and improve outcomes related to health and hygiene among rural communities.
