Longding, May 5: In a move aimed at expanding financial services in Longding district, Agriculture and Allied minister Gabriel D Wangsu on Monday inaugurated a new ICICI Bank branch at the Longding district headquarter.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by deputy commissioner Bekir Nyorak, ZPC Lohpong Wangham, SP Dekio Gumja, ICICI regional head (Jorhat) Rajib Nath, along with heads of departments, panchayat leaders, and members of the public.
Speaking at the event, Wangsu emphasised the importance of building a strong connection between the bank and the local community. He underlined the need for financial inclusiveness and urged ICICI bank to ensure that its services reach every corner of the district.
“This new branch should be aligned with the ideals of financial inclusiveness, bringing all available banking services to the doorstep of our citizens,” he said.
Highlighting the strain on the district’s sole SBI branch, Wangsu welcomed ICICI’s initiative and encouraged residents to make full use of the new banking facility.
As part of the launch, the DC also inaugurated an ICICI ATM booth within the bank premises, adding to the convenience of banking for local residents.
The establishment of the branch is expected to significantly enhance financial accessibility in Longding and contribute to the district’s overall economic growth.
