Longding, May 6: A 108-emergency ambulance based at district hospital in Longding district, was deployed for an inter-facility transfer (IFT) of a critical chest trauma patient on Monday.

The patient was referred from the district hospital to Aditya Super Specialty Hospital (ASSH) in Assam’s Dibrugarh, covering a distance of approximately 134.8 km.

The ambulance was staffed by Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Pheloi Wangsu of EMRI Green Health Services, which provides free 108 emergency ambulance services throughout Arunachal Pradesh.

During the high-risk journey, Wangsu displayed outstanding professionalism and commitment. Acting as the primary prehospital caregiver, she skilfully administered IV fluids, closely monitored vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation (SpO2) and ensured the patient's condition remained stable throughout the transfer.

Upon arrival, the patient was safely handed over to the medical team at ASSH for further treatment.

The incident highlights the increasing need for timely emergency care, especially as road traffic accident (RTA) cases in Longding district have surged fivefold over the past two years, a growing concern for local residents.

The tireless efforts of EMTs and ambulance pilots under EMRI Green Health Services deserve commendation. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, these frontline responders continue to provide life-saving support across the state.

Since its launch on June 21, 2021, by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the 108 emergency ambulance service has served over 27,500 beneficiaries in the state, reinforcing its crucial role in the state’s healthcare delivery system.
