Itanagar, May 6: Reinforcing its commitment to inclusive and transparent democratic processes, the Election Commission of India has launched a new phase of engagement with national and state political parties.
The initiative aims to foster regular, meaningful dialogue between the Commission and political party leaders, enabling them to directly share their insights, suggestions, and concerns.
The interactions are designed to address the long-standing need for constructive exchanges, providing a formal platform for party presidents and representatives to actively participate in discussions on electoral matters.
The effort is a reflection of the Commission’s broader vision to continually strengthen the electoral system within the bounds of the existing legal framework, through collaboration with all key stakeholders.
As part of this engagement strategy, the Commission has already facilitated an impressive 4,719 all-party meetings across various levels. These include 40 meetings chaired by Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), 800 by District Electoral Officers (DEOs), and 3,879 by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), collectively involving over 28,000 representatives from diverse political parties.
Through these sustained efforts, the Commission reaffirms its role as a responsive and accountable institution dedicated to ensuring free, fair, and participatory elections in the country.
