Pasighat, May 7: The Adi Students’ Union (AdiSU Apex) has announced its decision to stage a peaceful and non-disruptive demonstration at the office premises of the Deputy Commissioner in Boleng, Siang district, on May 9.
The union stated that the protest aims to highlight a series of unresolved administrative and institutional concerns affecting the region.
In a formal intimation submitted to the deputy commissioner on May 3, AdiSU cited procedural anomalies in the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) processes and delays in recruitment through the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) as key grievances. The union said these delays have contributed to service stagnation and hampered institutional functionality.
The AdiSU further raised concerns over encroachment upon government land designated for educational institutions in Boleng, Pangin, Kaying, and Pessing. It claimed the encroachments were affecting the infrastructure of several government higher secondary schools and thereby infringing upon the right to education and access to civic amenities.
The deployment of paramilitary personnel at the girls’ hostel of Boum Kakir Mission School in Boleng was also flagged as an issue. The union termed the deployment unauthorized and alleged that it posed risks to the privacy and security of the residents.
Additionally, the union expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in operationalising the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Pangin. It said the prolonged deferment continued to deprive youth of access to vocational training, exacerbating regional socio-economic disparities.
It stated that the demonstration will remain non-violent and constitutionally compliant, with an appeal to the authorities to address the grievances in a timely and effective manner.
The union urged the administration to consider the issues raised with urgency to avoid further dissatisfaction and disenchantment among the public.
