Namsai, May 7: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage and traditional art forms, while addressing a Carnatic music recital at the District Library here.
Lauding the young performers for their dedication, Mein said they serve as an inspiration for aspiring artists across the state. He also praised the efforts of the District Library Namsai, Bamboosa Library, and the Lohit Youth Library Network in fostering a culture of reading among the youth.
Highlighting the need to provide platforms and proper grooming to nurture emerging talent, the deputy chief minister reiterated his vision of making Namsai one of the cleanest districts in the state. He called for greater awareness around cleanliness alongside efforts to cultivate reading habits.
The event was jointly organised by the District Library and the Lohit Youth Library Network. Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom attended the programme as Guest of Honour, while Padma Shri awardee Sathyanarayanan Mundayoor, Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range) P N Khrimey, Deputy Commissioner of Namsai, Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Superintendent of Police, heads of departments, and students from Blooming Birds School were also present.
The recital featured the Wakro sisters, Ashapmai Dellang and Behelti Ama, who captivated the audience with their Carnatic vocal renditions. They were accompanied by Gautam Narayan on the violin and Vasudevan M.M. on the Mridangam.
The event was widely appreciated for blending classical music with community participation and cultural awareness.
