Itanagar, May 7: Governor K T Parnaik Wednesday extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of World Red Cross Day, with special appreciation for the dedicated Red Cross volunteers.

The day marks the birth anniversary of Jean Henry Dunant, founder of the Red Cross and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

In his message, the governor expressed hope that the celebration would inspire individuals to serve society with action, compassion, and unwavering commitment to humanity.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, Parnaik stated that it is a reminder of Dunant’s noble vision, which led to the creation of the world’s largest humanitarian network, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, now active in 192 countries.

The governor commended the Indian Red Cross Society for carrying forward this legacy with commendable dedication.

As president of the Arunachal Pradesh state branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, he said he takes immense pride in the selfless service of the state’s volunteers.

“Their steadfast commitment, particularly during emergencies, disasters, and natural calamities, has been exemplary,” he noted.

Parnaik expressed confidence that Arunachal Pradesh’s Red Cross volunteers will continue to uphold the organisation’s humanitarian values and serve the underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society with dedication.

Appealing to the people of the state, the governor encouraged all to actively support and join the Red Cross movement.

“Let us strengthen the Red Cross mission by becoming active participants in its efforts to alleviate human suffering, whenever, wherever, and however it may arise,” he urged.
