Itanagar, Jun 9: The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) held a condolence meeting here, on Sunday to mourn the untimely demise of Taichop Bangyang, a young, promising poet, short story writer, and active member of the Society, who passed away on May 16, this year.

Born on October 10, 1993, in Lapnan village of Tirap district, Bangyang was known for his literary talent and deep involvement in the activities of the APLS Tirap unit.

He pursued his early education at Navodaya Vidyalaya Tissa, graduated from Wangcha Rajkumar College, Deomali, and completed his MA in English from Rajiv Gandhi University.

At the time of his passing, he was serving as a guest faculty member at Wangcha Rajkumar College and had previously worked as a teacher at VKV Nirjuli.

APLS President Y D Thongchi, while offering floral tribute, described Bangyang’s passing as a great loss to the literary world of Arunachal Pradesh, noting that his writings held immense promise.

Other members, including Wanggo Socia, Dr Bompi Riba, Gumpi Nguso, Inumoni Das Thongchi, and Moge Basar, also paid their respects and shared reflections on his life and contributions.

The condolence meeting was followed by the 143rd monthly literary sitting of APLS.

The session featured poetry recitations by Gandhi Riyang, Ringu Elapra, Yagyaj, Moge Basar, Gumpi Nguso, and Dr Bompi Riba.

Short stories were read by Issac Jilen and Gumpi Nguso, while Wanggo Socia presented a critical appreciation of Rajkamal Choudhury’s Hindi novel Machli Mori Hui.
