Pasighat, Jun 9: The East Siang district administration on Monday organised a farewell ceremony at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall in honour of outgoing DC Tayi Taggu, who has been appointed as Director of Rural Development in Itanagar.

The event was attended by administrative officers, department heads, and staff, who acknowledged Taggu’s contributions to governance, law and order, and infrastructure development in the district during his tenure.

East Siang superintendent of police Pankaj Lamba described Taggu as a steadying presence who managed administrative responsibilities with composure. At the same time, ADC (Headquarters) Tatling Pertin commended his leadership in building coordination among officials and maintaining rapport with stakeholders.

Taggu served as DC for three years, during which the district was recognised with the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in 2022. East Siang was also acknowledged as one of the best-performing districts among hilly states, and Taggu was conferred the state’s Gold Medal for exemplary public service.

In his farewell address, Taggu expressed appreciation for the support of colleagues, stakeholders, and the public. He credited the district’s accomplishments to collective teamwork and called on officials to maintain discipline, foster positivity, and pursue continuous learning. “To lead an office, one must first lead oneself,” he said.

He also noted that the majority of projects under the Pasighat Smart City initiative were completed during his tenure, supported by CEO of the Smart City Mission Manjuli Komut and her team. He said these efforts aimed to enhance service delivery and urban development in the district.

Among the initiatives implemented during his tenure were the rollout of the e-Office system to enable paperless administration and progress on the Murkongselek–Pasighat railway project under the Northeastern Railway Connectivity Project.
