Tawang, Jun 9: The 12th day of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) was observed with a special programme on ‘Scientific Yak Husbandry Practices’ at Nuranang under Jang subdivision of Tawang district.
The event was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tawang in collaboration with the ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak (NRC-Yak) Dirang, and other agriculture and allied departments of the district.
The programme witnessed active participation from yak herders of nearby villages, officials from various departments, and dignitaries.
Director of NRC-Yak Dr Mihir Sarkar led a team of scientists and experts who provided guidance on modern yak husbandry and clean milk production.
In his address, Dr Sarkar emphasised the importance of adopting scientific techniques and natural farming practices to ensure long-term soil health and increase agricultural productivity.
He also encouraged farmers to embrace innovation and make informed decisions for sustainable development.
Jang additional deputy commissioner Hakraso Kri, in his address, underlined the need to effectively utilise government schemes for improving rural livelihoods and achieving holistic development of the farming community.
An interactive session allowed farmers to raise questions related to livestock practices, which were addressed by the attending experts.
To support ongoing agricultural efforts, essential inputs for yak farming were distributed among the farmers.
The event reflected the ongoing commitment of KVK Tawang and its partner institutions to promote scientific agriculture and empower local farmers through knowledge sharing and capacity building.
